I have been reading a lot about OpenERP lately and I must say I'm quite impressed. I presently deal with Proprietary ERP systems so my understanding of the Open source concept, especially as it concerns OpenERP is a bit biased by my background. My company intends to become an OpenERP partner in the near future. I’ll give you an instance, when you sell a proprietary ERP system as a value added reseller for say $10; it normally breaks down to about $5 for professional service (professional service), $4 for license and $1 for Annual maintenance (support). As a partner , you actually get 40% of the License and Maintenance revenue, so effectively you’ll be taking home a total of $7($5 for professional service % and $2 as revenue from license and maintenance) while the proprietary editor takes $3(60% of license and maintenance revenue).This is the Business model of the Proprietary ERP system I deal with. Can you kindly explain the OpenERP model in the backdrop of the explained Proprietary ERP MODEL?
